Hi, I'm Ivy!
I’ve always been creative. Song, dance, drawing; since my first bead kit at four, I’ve always enjoyed making things with my hands. I’ve dabbled in a thousand hobbies since; sewing bags, doll clothes, cosplay, plushies; knitting scarves, hats, gloves; crocheting bags, blankets. Tatting lace, cross-stitch embroidery. Spinning yarn, digital art, pottery, small ceramic sculpture. Thousands of hours writing fanfiction. And science was always a passion; my uncle showed me Saturn through his telescope the first time when I was about eight, and I’d been reading and watching The Magic School Bus, Star Trek, and Bill Nye for a handful of years before that. When I discovered my local college offered a metalsmithing program, I jumped at the chance; there I learned how to melt, alloy, and cast metals, cut and set gemstones, make and repair chain, assemble hinges and clasps, carve and replicate models in wax, clay, and rubber. But setting up a metalwork studio is equipment-heavy, so I’ve kept my toes in the industry with polymer clay and resin work, which brings us to today!
And meet my best support: My Mom!
After watching me play with clay for years, my mother Pattie decided she wanted to try her hand at it. Now she blends, stacks, cuts, rolls, and inlays right alongside me, accompanies me to shows, and uses her many years in retail to help us spread our love of colour and craft!
